PARKING
We do not have our own car park but there is
plenty of room on the road outside to park a car. There is an area
in the centre of the village where there is some off road parking
available but this can be fairly busy especially during the
daytime as it is close to Kennedys Chocolate Factory.
We do not have a designated area for storing bicycles or
motorcycles however please telephone or e-mail us to discuss
possible storage of such items.

The George is in the village of Orton 2
miles from the M6 (Junction 38) close to Appleby-In-Westmorland ,
Kendal, and Penrith.
Approaching from the South: Follow M6 to Junction
38, take first Exit at roundabout B6260 towards Appleby, follow road
for about 2 miles to the village of Orton . The George is on the
left at a Y junction.
Approaching from the North: You can exit the M6 at
Junction 39 (Shap) and follow the B6261 to Orton, however it is much
more straightforward to continue to J38 and follow instructions
above. If coming from Shap follow B6261 into the village as you come
into the village (you will see the Church) the road is marked to
turn right (at the Post Office and Tea Room) follow this and The
George is on your right at the next junction.
Approaching from East: Take the
A66 from Scotch Corner towards Penrith. Come off the A66 at Brough
and follow A685 to Kirkby Stephen. Go through Kirkby Stephen and
follow A685 to Tebay and M6. At Tebay turn right at the roundabout
onto A6260 as above. Please note there is a B road signposted from
the A685 towards Orton, we recommend that you ignore this and carry
on to Tebay. It is also possible to leave the A66 at Appleby and
then come down the A6260 into Orton. The George Hotel will be on
your right as you come through the village 100m after “Mad Monks
Music”. Turn right and double back on yourself to park outside the
hotel.
