The George is a traditional Inn set in the picturesque village of Orton, on the border of the Howgills and the Eden Valley. As a family run business you will always find a very warm welcome at any time of the year. In the summer you can enjoy freshly prepared meals and a quiet drink whilst relaxing in our terraced beer garden. In the winter why not draw up in front of our roaring log fire.

We are very easy to find as Orton is just 3 minutes from the M6 Motorway (Junction 38), 4 scenic miles from m6 motorway (junction 39) and is also on various coast to coast and cycle routes including Alfred Wainwright's "Coast to Coast" walk and Walney to Wear & Whitby Cycle Route (W2W).

The George has eight well appointed letting rooms with bed and breakfast available at very reasonable prices. We offer a relaxed atmosphere with a friendly personal service.

Traditional real ales and home cooked fare using local produce are available at lunch time and again in the evening. We pride ourselves on using local produce sourced from within a20 mile radius of the George Hotel.

Our greatest pride is in our pork products from our own family farm. Hazels homemade desserts are a must to try.
